Welcome our web
site,
the
only web site that dares to document the experience that
was Wilnecote High
School sixth form 1978 to 1980. This site currently
records the
sixth
form that began as the lower sixth in September 1978 and ended as upper
sixth in July 1980.
Discover what
written evidence and artefacts have been
unearthed from this facinating period of Wilnecote High School
history, learn the origins of
the Wilnecote High School sixth form obsession with Dosthil Rovers
FC, be thrilled by the
stories of derring-do...

Tuesday 5th December:
The Christmas gathering is set
for Friday 29th December, and yes this is the one
when we'll see Darren
and (hopefully) Barry for the first time in 20+ years.
The 'where' is the
Globe Inn, the
'when' is 8:30-9:00. If you are planning to join us OR not planning to
join us on the 29th let me know so I don't have to explain, again, to
everyone else that you were invited - it's very very
tedious ! Plus it will help if we need to change the venue.
If anyone is in contact
with
anyone else from our 6th form (or school year) please pass this message
on (or tell me how I can contact
them).
Tuesday 5th December:
Following the March get together we've explored the two possibilities
for increasing our numbers in order to make a more organised/formal
gathering feasible. These were: one, to see whether we could get our
school year interested and, two, to see whether we could get other 6th
forms from the school interested.
The results were
disappointing in both cases. Despite contacting over 500
people through FriendsReunited only eleven people responded
through that service, fewer contacted us directly by email and fewer
still used the online forum set-up to allow people to register their
interest.
I'm not sure what the
next step
should be but I am convinced that it's not possible for me alone to
generate enough interest amongst our ex-school mates to make something
different happen.
Thursday 9th November:
More new photos, this time from Barry. There's a couple of the
performance Court In The Act, one of Barry and Tom as aspiring file
makers (it's in black and white so it must be serious), and one of a D.
of E. presentation.
Monday
30th October: Just in time for Halloween we've received a
new batch of
photographs from 1979/80 from Davina. I don't feature in
them again (did nobody
like me ? don't answer that)
so I'm going to be as rude as I like in the commentary. I've added them
to the photo archive for your 'enjoyment'.
Wednesday 16th
August:
A
new free to use online forum has been
created for ex-pupils of Wilnecote high School. Its purpose is
to
enable ex-pupils to discuss any school related matters they want to -
perhaps this might lead to another class of 78 reunion. Don't expect
much in the way of activity for the first few
months. The link to the
forum is on our links page.
Tuesday 14th November:
The forum has been removed by the service providers, hostmybb,
due to a a lack of activity during September and October. It wasn't
such a good idea after all.
Monday 3rd July: Just
when I thought
it was safe to recommend our web site host and broadband provider they
seem
to have gone bust taking this web site and the Google, MSN and Yahoo
search engine listings we'd achieved with them. I guess
it's back
to square one again. As a temporary measure we're back on the Open4Free
server.
Wipeouts
t-shirts:
coming
soon...
There are no
plans for
another gathering
just yet. The feedback from the March outing has indicated that there
isn't a seething desire for another night out before the end of the
summer.
Erk !! A number of you have
expressed an interest in buying
a Wipeouts t-shirt
- there now seems enough interest to seriously
consider a
production run of these shirts. So we're investigating what
the
costs would be and the minimum number we would need to have made and
what choice we would have in size and style of shirt. More information
to follow...
Atomic
batteries to power, turbines to speed ! Time again to don the costume
of the caped crusader and get to The Three Tuns in Lichfield Street at
8:30pm on Saturday 25th March.
To
the bat-poles Robin !
Don't forget to put some cash in your utility
belt as there's a curry to be had later.
Please note
dressing up
is not advised unless it's as Catwoman.
